Bringing your holiday back to your home

Moorish style tiles

Bringing your holiday back to your home

As we all jet off on our summer holidays, many of us may find ourselves in Spain and Portugal, full of Moorish tiles and influences. One of our clients recently walked into our shop grasping a tile that he had picked out of a skip that was near the cave house in Southern Spain that he’d been staying in. He wanted to recreate the looks and colours contained within the tile, so he could use them throughout his home. We suggested that he incorporate them into tiling in his kitchen or garden, but it got us thinking; not everyone is lucky enough to discover vintage Mediterranean tiles.

Embrace patterns and colours

You may not be lucky enough to find some unwanted tiles (or have the baggage allowance), but it’s still possible to incorporate southern European and Moorish patterns in your home. The dark blues, so prominently seen in Portugal, can be seen in our Mediterraneo range enabling you to bring in the colours of the Algarve into your bathroom or kitchen.

Alternatively, the Patchwork range, has elements of Moorish design and influence. This can also be reflected in other aspects of the Comfort C selection, which create a muted Mediterranean influence for your home.

For something more modern and vibrant, the Moroccan influenced Metro Red Bevel brings a splash of colour to any setting.

Hanging out by the pool

For that hot, poolside feel, tiles are the perfect accompaniment to any garden or sunroom. Quick drying and exotic feeling, the Denverstone selection keeps the holiday feeling going, whilst creating a look that can be pulled in to your living space as well. Denverstone is great for kitchens, conservatories and outside spaces, creating a continuous, tied in look.

Get creative with patterns

New patterns can make a difference to what would be considered a boring tiling choice. Changing a tiling pattern from normal, horizontal tiles to a herringbone pattern can bring a touch of the exotic to a room.

Using Metro tiles to create a herringbone pattern in a room not only pulls in holiday influences, but also embraces new and imaginatively eye catching pattern styles.

If you’ve just landed and want to add some Mediterranean style to your home come and see us to discuss our varied tile selection.
